New Theme Credits

March 18th, 2009

My blog theme has featured the Mozilla Ten Year Anniversary for just about a year now; reflecting my original idea of celebrating not just the past but the future. We didn’t actually do as much in the appreciation of the past as I had anticipated. Instead we celebrated Mozilla’s Anniversary by continuing to move forward as fast as we can. That’s very Mozilla-like; we often don’t spend much time celebrating before moving on to the next thing.

I’m moving to a new theme. It’s got a lighter feel than the Mozilla black-and-red and has greater flexibility for making things easy to find. I want to thank Monique Johnson, who took a bunch of the doodles I draw during meetings and turned them into a theme, and Craig Cook for implementing the design. Also John and Melissa and Tiffney for dealing with my inertia.

I like the new theme. I like even more your reflection on not doing as much anniversary stuff as anticipated. I also work in a non-profit, and we had something similar where we didn’t really do as much as we had thought we would because we had too much on, and then we looked back and regretted that. But what’s the point in that? If people wanted to be doing something else, and that other stuff was good too, then why should it be a big problem?

Obviously you have to have some kind of balance, but being able to play fast and loose with plans can be nice, and it is “Mozilla-like” to be able to do that. It’s nice to see that Mozilla is still being “Mozilla-like” tens year on, having become a much larger organisation.

    Very nicely done.
But I am concerned that there are subliminal messages in the doodles because I have the sudden urge to subscribe to this blog eight more times through several feed readers other than just Thunderbird.
